The honesty of this IM exchange cracks me up! Dude goes on to have a rather lengthy and frank discussion with the scammer.

The fact that the speculative economy for cash and commodities accounts for over 95% of economic transactions, while people actually using money and consuming commodities constitute less than 5% tells us something important. Real supply and demand have almost nothing to do with prices. We do not live in an economy, we live in a Ponzi scheme.
Douglas Rushkoff, in a rather scathing, yet uplifting article about the ecomony and how he thinks it deserves to die.

Oh mans. Forget that contest, this is definitely a top-drawer opening line.

Hockey is arguably the most difficult sport in the world to play as it requires very high levels of disparate skills.

1. You must change direction quickly and constantly while standing on ice
2. You have knife blades strapped to your shoes
3. You must control a rock-hard disk moving at lightning speed on a slippery surface with a bent stick
4. You are being pushed and slammed into by other knife-shoe-wearers covered in armor traveling at very high speeds

It’s sort of like combining surgery with dodge ‘em cars. Just when you’re about to suture that aorta closed, somebody slams into you from behind and ruins the whole thing. Again.

There’s a lot of Star Wars tattoos out there. This one is pretty awesome. See also elephants, for context.

Use Me is a fantastically obtuse song to play (at least I think it is). Lindsay Mac does an amazing job doing it. She’s a very talented cellist.

The album version of the song is almost even better.

Also, tilt-shift photography is a rather neat trick.

Dolphins are pretty amazing. It’s a good thing they don’t have opposable thumbs or they might threaten our dominance.

When someone demands to know how we are going to replace newspapers, they are really demanding to be told that we are not living through a revolution. They are demanding to be told that old systems won’t break before new systems are in place. They are demanding to be told that ancient social bargains aren’t in peril, that core institutions will be spared, that new methods of spreading information will improve previous practice rather than upending it. They are demanding to be lied to.

It completely amuses me that Elmo can act out-of-character.
