Psst!
I live in Edmonton currently. It’s not particularly glamorous, particularly this time of year, when it’s cold out. The cold however, implies snow and ice outside, and those two things can be leveraged for amusement.
Skiiers understand this well, but there are times when you have no skis. What if all you have is a mild buzz leaving the bar and a route across the river to get home? Edmonton’s river sits in a valley, well below the level of civilization, which implies stairs. The stairs I’m talking about can be found easiest by locating the following bridge:
Once you get there, turn around and look for these stairs:
Climb them as high as you care to, knowing that the view down starts like this and gets worse:
Finally, now that you’re in position:
- pull on your thick gloves (you do have thick gloves, right? You’d be a fool not to when it’s cold outside),
- grip the railing,
- plant your feet on the nice long plank intended for cyclists to roll their bikes down the stairs
- slide to the bottom, furthering the science that fun increases in proportion to velocity,
- and repeat until bored.
Guaranteed to amuse for at least a minute!
